Our History

History

The Lansing Educational Foundation was founded in 2004 with 11 Charter Members. These members expressed a desire for the Lansing Board of Education to establish a foundation for the School District. For the pursuit of excellence in education, the Foundation is now governed by a 21 member Board of Directors with the support of a part time director and the district superintendent. With the focus on educational excellence, both in academics and fine arts, the Foundation offers additional opportunities for Lansing students through grants to district staff and special projects.

Regular Board Meetings

The monthly Board of Directors Meeting falls on the 4th Monday of the month at 5:30PM.

Fine Arts & Multi-Cultural Opportunities

  • In 2009 and 2014 LEF partnered with the Lansing School District to host the Kansas City Symphony at our District Auditorium. The “Support School Music Program,” sponsored by the Kansas City Symphony provided an opportunity for the students and the community to focus on the value and importance of our school music programs. While also raising needed funds to support the music programs within the district.

  • In 2010 LEF partnered with the Carnegie Arts Center to bring the Tuvan Throat Singers and the Nartan Indian Dancers to our District Auditorium. The Tuvan Throat singers provided students an opportunity to experience the cultural singing of the Tuva people of southern Siberia. The Nartan Indian Dancers provided a classical Indian experience with both food, music and the art of classical Indian Dance.

  • In 2012 the Vienna Boys Choir from Austria, Germany graced the District Auditorium with their world renowned voices. This performance continued LEF’s history of supporting multi-cultural, educational and fine arts oriented opportunities for our Lansing students and our Lansing community.
